CAT Board of Directors
Anna Aguilar
Anna became involved with CAT as a VISTA volunteer in 1997. She worked as a tenant organizer in buildings that were at risk of losing their federal subsidies. Anna actively assists with fundraising projects and is a leader in our Housing Justice Program. Anna is a low-income renter and Latina. Anna has been a Board member since 2000.
Kimberly Ault
Kimberly became involved with CAT due to habitability concerns in her building. She is an active volunteer, working the Renters' Rights Hotline, doing data entry, facilitating tenant groups and doing public speaking. Kimberly is a low-income tenant, Caucasian, and has a physical disability. Kimberly has been a Board member since CAT’s inception in 1997.
Maria Felix-Altamirano
Maria joined CAT while organizing in her building around issues of repairs and displacement tied to urban renewal. She has been a leader for her building, talking to the press, providing testimony to the Portland Development Commission and City Council, and door-knocking to get her neighbors involved. Maria is Latina, a low-income tenant and was elected to CAT’s Board in October 2004.
Marie Knapp
Marie has been a hotline volunteer for over two-years. She has also been active in CAT’s Affordable Housing NOW! Campaign and grassroots fundraising efforts. She has extensive volunteer organizing experience. Marie is white, a low-income tenant, and was elected to CAT’s Board in October 2004.
Mary Latourette - Board President
Mary joined CAT in 1999 while organizing her neighbors to respond to their pending displacement from the Western Rooms Apartments in downtown Portland. Tenant organizing at Western Rooms secured adequate relocation of all tenants and a commitment from the City to replace the lost affordable housing. Mary has continued to be an active leader at CAT, supporting the organizing efforts of other tenants and providing leadership for CAT’s campaigns to preserve affordable housing. Mary is formerly homeless, a low-income tenant, Caucasian, and has a mental health disability. Mary joined the Board in 2003.
Ben Levy
Ben has been a hotline volunteer for over two years, and he leads community Renters’ Rights Workshops. He is also active in CAT’s grassroots fundraising efforts an membership outreach. Ben has extensive volunteer experience with community organizing. Ben is white, a low-income tenant, and was elected to CAT’s Board in October 2004.
Alison McIntosh - Board Secretary
Alison is an active volunteer on CAT’s Renters’ Rights Hotline. Alison recently moved from MN. While living in the Twin Cities she had problems as a renter and difficulty finding information and support so when she learned of CAT she jumped in with both feet. She has extensive volunteer experience in community organizing. She is white, a low-income tenant and was elected to CAT’s Board in October 2004.
Manny Terialles - Board Treasurer
Manny joined CAT while organizing at his building around repair issues. He has been a leader in organizing efforts at his building. He has also been active in CAT’s advocacy efforts around federal funding for affordable housing programs. Manny is Latino, has a disability and is a low-income tenant. Manny was elected to CAT’s Board in October 2004.
Steve Weiss
Steve is a Section 8 tenant who lives in housing owned by a non-profit landlord. He is a member of the Red Rose School (an alternative community school) and the chair of the mental health advisory committee for the Oregon Advocacy Center (an advocacy organization for persons with disabilities). Steve is a low-income Section 8 tenant, has a mental health disability. Steve is active in CAT’s Housing Justice Program and represents CAT on a variety of committees and commissions in the community. He is Jewish and has been a Board member since CAT’s inception in 1997.
