CAT Staff Biographies
Elisa Aguilera
Elisa Aguilera joined CAT’s staff in 2004. Elisa is the Lead Organizer for Safe Housing Project. Elisa recently received an award Portland State University’s Outstanding Community Engagement, and is currently is currently taking graduate courses in Non-Profit Management. Elisa has been active in advocacy around youth homelessness, disability rights, and domestic violence issues. Outside of CAT, Elisa is a student board member for Housing Northwest, Inc representation for student and tenant rights.
Ari Rapkin
Ari is CAT’s Renter Stability Education Director, and is also responsible for coordinating CAT’s grassroots fundraising efforts. Ari Rapkin has been doing tenant's rights work for two years. Before that, he spent many years doing domestic violence intervention work. He enjoys agitating for queer and trans rights, riding bicycles and drinking too much coffee. After the revolution, he plans to become a librarian and trapeze artist.
Ian Slingerland
Ian has been CAT’s Executive Director since June 2003. Prior to that, he held several roles within CAT. He started as an organizer with CAT in 1997, working on CAT’s building-based organizing efforts in HUD-assisted housing, and also served as CAT’s Preservation Program Director.
